Admission procedure
Primarily, Technology Park Pomurje supports the start-up of new companies, but also existing companies and educational institutions can become tenants of our premises. Financial support is intended for start-up companies therefore the rules and procedures for the inclusion into the Technology Park are significantly stricter.
In accordance with the Supportive Environment for Entrepreneurship Act Technology Park Pomurje is a subject of innovative environment, and in accordance with Record on Keeping Rules on the Innovative Environment (Official Gazette of the RS, No.: 102/07) it is entered into Register A, which is managed by the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI)for the needs of the Ministry of the Economy.
The subjects of Innovative Environment are represented by business and university incubators, as well as technology parks that encourage formation of new companies, especially those that are important for bigger competitiveness, higher added value, and more uniform regional development of entrepreneurship.
In accordance with the criteria needed for the admission into Technology Park Pomurje all entrepreneurs have equal chances for a membership. An expert committee analyses the technology, available recourses, business experience, and the need for services of every entrepreneur with the intent of determining the growth potential, and the probability for the company’s success.
Admission criteria
Admission criteria for enterprises:
- Credibility of the entrepreneur and their team
- Technological innovativeness
- Development level of the product or service
- Growth potential
- Development of business model
- Company’s potential influence on a broader social environment
- Quality of the business plan
An important part of the final evaluation is also a public presentation of the business plan or the business idea in front of an expert committee.
The admission criteria are revised periodically by the assembly; all the changes have to be in accordance with the strategic orientation of the Technology Park.
The admission procedure encompasses:
1. Submitting a complete application that includes these documents:
1. Completed membership application
2. Completed business plan
2. Evaluation by the business admission committee
3. Public presentation of the business plan to the committee
4. Decision of the business admission committee
Possible decisions regarding the membership:
- Approval of the membership application
- Conditional approval of the membership application
- Rejection of the membership application
The decision is made as a resolution, which is the basis for signing the rental agreement. Enterprises that are conditionally accepted are usually put on a list of companies on hold until the fulfilment of the conditions, or until capacities are freed-up. When the premisesare freed-up, all companies are re-evaluated according to the current situation. Thereafter, the committee chooses the most qualified company at the given moment.
The duration of the incubation program for start-up companies:
A Company can generally stay in the Technology Park for an unlimited period of time, but on the other hand the support system is mainly offered for the first three fiscal years in accordance with the criteria of JAPTI or Slovene Enterprise Fund.
A potential member has to:
- Present a need for the premisesand services of the Technology Park.
- Have growth potential or provide activities that are necessary for the environment.
- Be profit-oriented.
Additional criteria are generally published in a call for applications for the start-up of new companies, which is published annually.
Explanation of the terms
- “Start-up company” is an enterprise that’s younger than 18 months, is physically located in the Technology Park area, and meets the annual call for applications criteria.
- “Incubate” is an innovative company that is younger than 5 years and is physically located on the Technology Park premises.
- ”Tenant” is an enterprise or an educational institution that operates on the premisesof Technology Park Pomurje.
- “Graduate company” is an enterprise that has completed its incubation period in the Technology Park and works outside its premises.
